Some useful information about the Opel Manta Owners Club

The Opel Manta Owners Club came into being in 1983 following an advert placed in Motor magazine. This then sparked off what was to become the club as we know it today.

It is quite unusual for an owners club to come into existence whilst the car is still in production - the Manta was axed in 1988 after nearly 18 years and three different models.

During July of every year, the club stage a National Meeting, usually at Billing Aquadrome in Northampton. This serves as the club concours d'elegance where we can all meet up and admire each others machines !

The OMOC has strong ties with the Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association (VBOA), which supports most GM based car clubs in the UK. They help out with sourcing hard to find parts and re-manufacture of obsolete items. This is done with the backing of Vauxhall Motors Ltd, who now recognise the importance of customer loyalty.

'Manta Magic'

Pictured above is a copy of the club magazine 'Manta Magic'. Each member receives 4 issues every year detailing all the events planned both locally and nationally. There is a large For Sale section, technical advise column and readers articles.

In 1999 the magazine was awarded a highly commended by Practical Classics for its excellent content and presentation. Upon joining the OMOC, each member receives a membership card, current magazine, window sticker and key fob. The full facilities of the club are then at your disposal including technical advice and advertising for cars/parts for sale/wanted.

The club caters for all levels of enthusiasm from those who just appreciate the car to those who own several Manta's.

The Club organises regular events in all areas of the country, hardly a weekend goes by without something happening !
